Save Classic Blue

Each year the Pantone Colour Institute, (the organisation responsible for forecasting colour trends and helping companies decide on a key shade for their products,) announces their pick for Colour of the Year.

PANTONE’s 2020 Color of the Year: PANTONE 19-4052 CLASSIC BLUE

Pantone states “this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era. Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge.”

Fair enough. But the colour is also described as: “a boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky”

AND THE WWF BEGS TO DIFFER.

The WWF in Hungary has taken a very cool creative spin on the announcement, using it as an opportunity to bring the global air pollution issue into the limelight. Together with Budapest based advertising agency White Rabbit, WWF have launched the #SaveClassicBlue campaign, encouraging people to fight against air pollution.
