Q2 Creations: Studio Highlights from April to June 2022

It’s so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of completing projects and meeting deadlines. Most projects, unless specifically selected to become a portfolio piece, are completed without much celebration or reflection. But the reality is, most work doesn’t end up being a perfectly curated “logo + website + social media” shebang portfolio piece. In fact, some of the most impactful and purposeful projects are far more adhoc. These Quarterly Creation updates are designed to ensure each Concrete Creative creation gets the spotlight it deserves!

The studio highlight reel for Q2 2022 includes a Squarespace Website for a non-for-profit, re-brand for a Wheatfields Residential Aged Care Home, and a sustainability report for The Jardine Engineering Corporation.

U-Go University

Website Design and Development | Global

Earlier this year, John Wood of Room to Read embarked on his next big venture - U-Go University.

Building on the success of Room to Read, U-Go helps young women in low-income countries pursue higher education by providing financial scholarships funded by individuals and corporations in high-income countries.

Concrete Creative had the privilege of helping bring this brand to life; designing and developing the website, hosted on Squarespace, to launch the brand, share the mission and begin accepting donations to transform the lives girls in the developing world.

Concrete Creative continues to provide on going design support for the U-Go team, as they strive to empower young women through education, creating a far-reaching ripple effect to their families and the wider communities.

Wheatfields Residential Care Rebrand

Brand Identity | South Australia

This branding project was another collaboration with South Australian architecture firm SMFA. Creative direction for the re-brand was inspired by the the architectural plans and moodboards for the renovation, as well as the natural elements of the area of Freeling. We worked together with Wheatfields CEO and the architectural team at SMFA to develop a clean and modern logo set; including primary logo, simplified logo, wordmark and brandmark, as well as colour palette and typography. These elements now work together to provide a distinctive visual identity for the business, which continues to pay homage to the original brand, while embracing the aesthetic of the new architectural renovations. With the brand identity developed, we are now working on the rollout of collateral including business cards, email signature and on-site signage.

JEC Sustainability Report

Report Design | Hong Kong

The Jardine Engineering Corporation Limited (JEC) is a leading provider of engineering services in Asia. JEC views sustainability as an integral driver of business success. So this year, they worked with The Purpose Business to determine their sustainability framework and strategy and develop their first annual Sustainability Report.

Concrete Creative was then tasked with bringing this report to life.

The report, provided as a basic Word document, was transformed, through strategic design layout and careful execution, into an engaging and informative interactive PDF.

The layout was supported with custom illustrated infographics and icons, and a cover design inspired by the newly developed JEC Suitability Framework.

You can cast your eyes over the full report on the JEC website here.
